We’re all very much aware of the spat between Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut. It began when Ranaut came on Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan and called him the ‘flag bearer of nepotism’. This remark didn’t go down well with Johar and he had later commented that ‘I don’t give her (Ranaut) work because I choose not to’.
We thought that what’s in the past is in the past, but seems like Karan is still not over it. Recently at IIFA, when Varun Dhawan came on stage to receive his Best Actor in a Comic Role Award (for Dishoom), here’s how the conversation went like on stage:
Saif Ali Khan: You’re here because of your pappa (David Dhawan)
Varun Dhawan: You’re here because of your mummy (Sharmila Tagore)
Karan Johar: I’m also here because of my father (Yash Johar)
And then the three of them shouted:
After this, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan started singing Bole chudiyan, bole kangana from Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, to which Johar replied:
Kangana nahi bole toh acha hai
Well, nepotism or no nepotism, has the industry sunk to new lows?
