Dia Mirza has always been vocal about being an environmentalist and now the actress has been appointed as UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India.
“I feel honoured and inspired by this opportunity to work with UN Environment to promote sustainable development. It’s a wonderful acknowledgement of my personal commitment to the cause. In the last seven years, as a public personality, I’ve tried to use every platform of communication to help people understand the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental protection. Together, we will continue to work towards conservation of nature, tackling climate change and inspiring people to live more sustainably,” Dia said.
She also added how excited she was to be a part of a panel discussion at the UN headquarters in Nairobi, “I’m looking forward to meeting earth heroes who are being acknowledged from across the planet for their outstanding achievements in the fields of science and innovation. I know I will come back even more energized to help spread the message.”
“I consider myself a nature lover who is trying to spread the love in every way I can. Conservationists can at times sound fatalistic because the numbers are scary, 10 out of the 20 most polluted cities are in India, that itself is frightening but these things can be changed by better human choices,” she signed off.
