My character is not just a damsel in distress, Katrina Kaif speaks empowerment

Katrina Kaif is now on cloud nine after the super success of Tiger Zinda Hai which has already crossed the 250 crore mark. And even though the film has Salman Khan as the leading man, Kaif’s work has been equally recognised. Speaking about the same, she told a leading daily, “It’s extremely important, and that’s why it feels nice. Portraying the role of a powerful female character or projecting women in strong light don’t necessarily mean that one has to play the protagonist or the solo lead.”

“The fact that people are talking about my action scenes or role in the film despite Salman’s presence is exciting. It is really nice to see that the female character could be as strong,” the actress added.

She further went on to share details about Zoya (her character), “It’s great as my character is not just a damsel in distress or the romantic interest but is fighting for her country. That’s wonderful because I don’t think anyone expected the character to turn out to be this strong.”

Kaif is now working on Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan which also features Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Shahrukh Khan’s Zero with Anushka Sharma.
