Whenever films have had more than one heroine, the media raises questions about the relationship between the leading ladies and how toxic it could get. So when Rhea Kapoor announced Veere Di Wedding with four women, the same kinda rumours started doing the rounds. But Kapoor and her leading ladies – Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania – proved everyone wrong and have made a nice and fun film together.
In a recent interview with a daily, Sonam Kapoor was questioned about the rivalry between herself and Kareena Kapoor Khan, to which she answered, “There’s no rivalry between us. In fact, Bebo(Kareena), Rhea, me and Lolo (Karisma Kapoor) have a Whatsapp group called The Kapoor Girls. We post each other’s yesteryear pictures on it. Bebo and I have been friends for 15 years.”
“Such gossip doesn’t bother us because we are in a secure space. Bebo and I are third generation of actors (in our families) and we know how the media functions. We are great friends. We have made a kick-ass movie and proved that women can work with each other and get along. We had a blast (while shooting Veere),” Sonam further added.
CO-produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Veere Di Wedding has been directed by Shashanka Ghosh and released on June 1st, 2018.
