The trailer of Fanney Khan suggests that it is a story of a father (Anil Kapoor) who wanted to be a renowned singer, but couldn’t achieve his dreams and hence, wants his daughter (Pihu Sand) to be the next Lata Mangeshkar. To make her daughter famous, along with a friend (Rajkumar Rao), he kidnaps a singing sensation, Baby Singh (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who receives Rs. 30 lakhs for just cutting a ribbon. However, in due course of time, you realise that Adhir (Rao), Khan and Singh are, after all, friends?
Fanney Khan is the story of this father who has dreams in his eyes, it is the story of his talented daughter who sings well but when she is up on stage, her voice isn’t heard and she is, instead, fat shammed. And to me, Fanney Khan also seemed like a story of life and love and how love always brightens up life.
