2018-19 are the years for star kids. Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ishaan Khattar, Ananya Panday and the list goes on. You may assume it’s easy for them all, but in reality it isn’t so easy after all, especially not for Rohan Mehra. In his debut film, Bazaar, Mehra plays Rizwan Ahmed an Allahabadi, who relocates to Mumbai with a desire to work with Shakun Kothari (Saif). His character is ambitious, street-smart, where he knows how to play with the ball dodged into his court.
While speaking to a leading daily about his journey to Bollywood Rohan mentioned, “I heard about the film and read about it. I was very intrigued by the storyline. When I learned that Nikkhil Sir was making this film, I intended to give a shot at the auditions. Initially, the film was supposed to have only established actors and they were not even planning on taking newcomers.” But eventually, the production team did have auditions for the character of Rizwan and that was it for Mehra.
“They were convinced and had to audition a few rounds. Though I had to wait for months before I got a confirmation call. It was not something which was offered because I was a star kid. I had to really work hard for it,” he adds on.
Also starring Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, and Chitrangada Singh, Bazaar releases on 21st October.
