Rakesh Sharma’s biopic, Salute has been in the news for a while now. Earlier, Aamir Khan was supposed to play the leading man in the film, and his leading lady was supposed to be Priyanka Chopra. But then Khan walked out of the film because he had already given his dates to Thugs Of Hindostan. After the 3-Idiots star actor walked out of the film, Shahrukh Khan was approached to play and the part and he agreed as well, but then Chopra decided that she suddenly didn’t want to do the film anymore. The makers then approached Kareena Kapoor Khan to step in PeeCee’s role, but since the role was smaller compared to the work it required and owing to the fact that she already had two films in her kitty, Bebo politely refused saying that she needed time of with her son, Taimur Ali Khan.
And while reports of Bhumi Pednekar or Katrina Kaif being the leading lady have been doing the rounds, our sources tell us that Rani Mukerji has been approached to play the part. “Rani’s name has been considered for the heroine and she is being spoken to at the moment. Her date calendar is rather easy as she has not announced any film like most other actresses and hence she could be the right choice for the role considering the kind of camaraderie she and Shah Rukh have had over the years. While Rani has done a few cameos for Shah Rukh in the recent past, she was last seen with him in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,” says the source.
Oh, we so wish that Rani Mukerji agrees to play this part! Remember Chalte Chalte?
