Ekta Kapoor’s next production which is a female driven narrative was supposed to be helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari earlier with Vidya Balan and Bhumi Pednekar in the leads but that didn’t work out and now Lipstick Under My Burkha fame, Alankrita Shrivastava has been roped in to direct the film. And along with her, she’s brought a change to the cast. While Pednekar hasn’t been replaced, Shrivastava’s film will no longer have Vidya Balan in it and will instead have Konkona Sensharma.
A source told a leading daily, “Konkona Sensharma has been signed on for the other female lead’s part. The character needed to be essayed by a powerful actor, and when the think tank at the production house was discussing whom they should pitch the film to, they felt Koko would suit the part really well.”
“Alankrita also wanted Konkona in the film, given that they have already worked together in Lipstick Under My Burkha last year. She has signed on the dotted line. In fact, both Bhumi and Konkona shot for the picture announcing the film earlier this week itself,” the source adds.
