Deepika Padukone has had a great run at the cinemas, especially with her brand of Sanjay Leela Bhansali films. The actress has worked with the filmmaker in three projects – Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. While there were rumours that Padukone has signed Bhansali’s next, those where shushed out really soon, and now, the Cocktail actress is working on Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. In an interview, she spoke about the film and how will 2019 pan out for her and said, “Honestly, I have no clue about how I am going to go about things. I am taking each day as it comes. I think with Meghna, I am in great hands. At some point, I will have to switch off as a producer and switch on only as an actor. So, it’s going to be an interesting journey because I have only played one role so far – that of an actor. There’s a lot to learn as well.”
She also added, “Also, I must admit that I was exhausted after working with Sanjay sir (Leela Bhansali) consecutively. [As an actor] I had nothing left and that’s why I really needed to replenish emotionally before I took up anything else.”
Chhapaak is based on acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agrawal and also stars Vikrant Massey opposite Padukone.
