Mahesh Mathai’s directorial, Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, has faced the wrath of controversy since day one. Earlier, the film was going all fine when Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas were cast as the leading pair of this Rakesh Sharma biopic. When Khan stepped out, to work on his ambitious Mahabharata, and was replaced by Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas baked out of the film and was replaced by Bhumi Pednekar. And recently, owing to the dates of Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, SRK also walked out of the film, leaving it without a leading actor.
Buzz earlier was that Kartik Aaryan, Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal were the names in the minds of the producers, Sidharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala and they have finally zeroed it on Vicky Kaushal to lead the film. This decision has been made owing to the success of Manmarziyaan and Uri: The Surgical Strike (also produced by Screwvala).
Kaushal may be the brightest upcoming star we may have currently, but he sure has big shoes to fit into, because taking on a role passed through and even appreciated by Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan is a mammoth of a task!
