Recently, we told you that after Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak and Kabir Khan’s ’83, Deepika Padukone is in talks with Shakun Batra for his next. While talks are still on for that, today, news has come in that Deepika Padukone will be playing the role of Draupadi in Madhu Mantena’s Mahabharat, which will be a two part film, the first of which will release around Diwali 2021.
Talking about getting Padukone on board, not just as an actor but as a co-producer too, Madhu Mantena said, “And Deepika is not just the biggest actress today, but someone who can take this narrative across borders. If it weren’t with her, we would not be making this film on such an ambition scale.”
Both Padukone and Mantena are now in talks with leading actors and scriptwriters to make this dream of theirs come true.
