How can you go wrong when you have Tabu and Saif Ali Khan in the same frame? It worked in Sooraj Barjataya’s Hum Saath Saath Hain and it’ll work again in Nitin Kakkar’s Jawaani Jaaneman. The film is about a middle aged man who’s having the time of his life. His mother suspects he’s gay because he isn’t married yet. Then enters a young girl (played by debutante Alaya F) who claims that she is his daughter, and she indeed is. There’s no suspense there. Tabu plays her mother and what we’re being offered is an emotional entertainer with promising performances.
I know it’s too soon to judge, but Alaya seems promising. She seems to have forgotten her privileged background to delve into the character and understand the nuances of a girl on a hunt. Khan and Tabu are reliable actors and hence, not much can go wrong with them.
