Shashanka Ghosh’s Veere Di Wedding, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania may not have been the film of the year, but one thing it did: it broke ceilings. It said that women could be whatever they wanted to and also, at the same time, make money at the box office.
When does it happen that four actresses come together for a joint project, backed by two female producers (Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor)? Almost never. But, it’s happening again. In an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Instagram, someone asked Rhea Kapoor when will we get a sequel to Veere Di Wedding, and she replied saying that it’s going to happen sooner than she thought it would, as she tagged the four ladies who were a part of the first film. While the first instalment revolved around Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Kalindi’s wedding in the film, will the second film be about the wedding of one of the other girls, or will it trace Kalindi’s life after marriage? That, only time will tell…
