The 1987 classic, Mr. India, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri is certainly one of the finest films coming out of Hindi Cinema. It still remains a landmark film in our industry. It created news then, it’s creating news now. If reports are to be believed, director Ali Abbas Zafar is working on a spin-off of the original film, and has approached Ranveer Singh to play the role of Mogambo in his telling of the story.
“It’s neither a sequel nor a remake, but more of a spin-off of the original film set in the modern times. The film is in the pre-production stage and Ali has already locked the first draft of the script. Taking cue from Mr. India is a big deal, and Ali is being cautious with every step that he is taking,” a source revealed to a leading portal.
While there is no confirmation on the same, we love the idea of Singh playing one of Amrish Puri’s most iconic characters. We’re also intrigued to know who would Ali Abbas Zafar cast in the shoes of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi.
