By now, we would have been beyond one of the most celebrated red carpets in the history of filmmaking, but alas! Remember the time when we were all pouring over our phones and keeping a tab of who wore what at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival? Well, who would have thought it would be one of the events we would be missing amongst everything in 2020.
While Cannes has been getting all the glamourous courtesy from celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Deepika Padukone was a favourite at the 2019 edition of the illustrious international film festival. She has stood out at the red carpet every time since 2010 when she first made her debut.
Padukone’s sartorial choices have come a long way and one can trace this evolution from sarees to dramatic gowns. Although some of the looks might not have served the carpet right, the Chapaak actress’s 2019 ensembles sure became one of our favourite flutters as she stole the show in a Peter Dundas creation.
Right the next morning with the rising sun, Padukone took over Instagram and shared some splendid off-duty looks from her day 2 at Cannes and blessed our mornings. Now that we’ll have to wait for 2021 to be in awe of her next move at the festival, here’s a looking back at Deepika Padukone giving us major glam lessons from her trip to France. We’re not talking about elaborate red carpet gowns, but her off duty looks from 2019, which we loved, and you too would love to recreate, we are sure!
Loewe
On the second day of the 72 film festival, the Padmaavat actress donned a classy pant-suit with a plunging neckline by Loewe. Along with us, her husband (Ranveer Singh) too couldn’t stop gushing over the boss lady. His comments on her pictures are proof! Stylist Shaleena Nathani teamed the calm and summery blazer look with a popping pair of neon orange pointed stilettos and black rectangular glasses. Since its Cannes, Padukone went extra with an unusual pink liner and nude lips but her hair was at its beachy and wavy best!
Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini
For one of her off-duty looks at the French Riviera, Padukone went all white and everything right. She looked heavenly in a lacy bralette, a dotted-sheer translucent white top tucked in a high waist pair of trousers from a Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini’s spring-summer 2019 collection. The chic look went on extravagant with gold and pearl jewelry and hair loosely tied in a pony as she raises the temperature. Nude pumps, a bold lipstick and Padukone’s charm – what more do we ask for!
