Starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma in leading roles, Roohi releases on March 11.
It’s safe to say that Roohi will be a good film. After all, it comes from someone who has earlier written Trapped and written and directed the wonderful 2020 release, Kaamyaab. Written by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba (writer and director of Fukrey) and directed by Hardik Mehta, Roohi, earlier called Rooh Afza and then Roohi Afzana, is a horror-comedy starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma in leading roles. The film is the second instalment in the Stree franchise and by the looks of the trailer, we honestly cannot wait to see what it has to offer.
Roohi is the story of a witch, Roohi (Janhvi kapoor) who abducts brides on their honeymoon. Veer and Raj (Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma) are here to save the brides from this witch. How they do it? Well, that’s something only time will tell. But what we know now is that the three lead actors, Rao, Kapoor and Sharma promise a fun film. Rajkummar Rao is always reliable with his performances, as is Varun Sharma. To add to that, both their comic timing is perfect too. Over the couple of years that Janhvi Kapoor has been a part of films, she’s proved that if someone wants to learn, they will. After delivering a terrific performances in Sharan Sharma’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Kapoor is here to tell us that she is here for all the right reasons and not just because of her last name.
Talking about the film, Dinesh Vijan had earlier said, “While Stree was a genre bending tale that gave audiences something never seen before, Roohi takes this vision a step further by offering the same brand of spine chilling scares and quirky comedy,” promising us that this will be a better film, in better times. As the government relaxes the lockdown and cinema halls are now entirely open, Roohi will release on March 11 in over 1,500 screens.
