After Padmaavat, we thought that Sanjay Leela Bhansali would take a break from Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Even though he has stated in an interview that he wasn’t done with working with both the actors, we assumed that the director would first make a film with a different pair of actors before getting back to Padukone and Singh. But that is clearly not the case. Bhansali has now signed a three-film deal with his Ram-Leela co-stars and plans to make the films in the coming six years.
A trade expert told a leading daily, “Bhansali has not just been bowled over by their performances but also enamoured by the dedication shown by these actors. Since Padmaavat’s shoot was stalled and the release was delayed, they had to contribute a lot more to the film. Deepika and Ranveer, however, understand that if they agree to a three-film deal, they are bound to him for six more years of filming. What will be interesting to see is if any corporate comes on board for a three-film deal with Bhansali, DP and Ranveer.”
While we sure love Deepika and Ranveer in a Bhansali film, maybe it is time for a fresh casting against Bhansali’s historical dramas. Don’t you think so?
